Rene Saguisag is a fraternity brother of Jojo Binay. He was asked, “Would you vote for your fraternity brother”? His answer was, “Honestly, in the 2010 VP elections I voted for someone handsome, decent and intelligent, and there is no reason that I should vote differently in 2016.” Those were not the exact words. But something to that effect.
Saguisag was referring to Mar Roxas. He is supporting Mar Roxas instead of his fraternity brother, Jojo Binay, because according to him, Mar is handsome, decent and intelligent.
I will not belabor to explain the merits of his statement. He knows both men better than me because they have worked together for many decades, from their younger days as anti-Marcos dictatorship activists, human rights lawyers, and cabinet members, up to the days of EDSA I, EDSA II until today.
But I take exception to the adjectives, “handsome, decent and intelligent.” These are words that could well describe both Baba Yap and Mar Roxas.
The former supports the latter; that’s why Tagbilaran is filled with Mar-Leni posters. There are many other similarities. Both have gorgeous wives who have their own names to be proud of, Jane Cajes and Korina Sanchez.
Both have mothers who have very strong personalities, Geesnell Yap and Judy Araneta. As far as I know, both also have good track records in places where they have worked. I mean, so far so good.
I don’t campaign for any politician. It just happened that it’s only recently that the road leading to Uptown, Ubujan got cemented and the water service there flows better. I’m thankful.
Moreover, Rene Saguisag is a very credible person. And Jane’s dad, Bob Cajes, is a personal friend of PNoy. Just looking at facts.
